Special Issue, Graduation Day

February 27, 2015

To my dear students,

Omedetou gozaimasu!

Your graduation marks the end of your high school years of hard work, discipline, persistence, and inquisitiveness. It is also an affirmation of the knowledge and skills you have acquired. However, as most of you will agree, it is not the end of learning. Learning usually occurs when something new or different is placed in front of us. Having a mind that takes this as an opportunity to learn can give us a life that is both interesting and exciting.

I wish that you will always value the chances to know and do new things; never be afraid of making mistakes.

Always,
Your Ma'am Rose

Heartfelt congratulations to everyone in the Class of 2015!

ペンとノートA new beginning,

New chapter,

New endeavours,

New challenges,
- a fulfilling life

Don't think of your graduation from Fukiai as the end of something special, but the start of something even more wonderful, the next chapter in your life …whether it be college or a new job.

Take on fresh, new challenges - even those which may seem a little daunting - with the confidence gained through your experiences here at Fukiai.

Make the most of each and every day and make a difference in the lives of those you encounter on your journey through life. Touch hearts, find fulfillment and always be true to yourself.

Good luck & God Bless,

Dear graduating students, congratulations! You made it!

These past three years might have felt long and sometimes tedious, but I guarantee when you look back it will feel like high school life raced by all too quickly. Although I sometimes miss my high school days, I feel that finishing high school is an exciting time because of the choices and options that lie before you. The days of being told what to do and what to study and what to think are over. Now it's your turn to take hold of your life and decide what you want to do with it. Dr. Seuss wrote books for small children, but they often included wise advice for young and old alike. Here is one quote:

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go."

Whether you study at university, start working, move overseas, start a family, make new friends-it's all up to you. Don't let fear of failure or other people's expectations make these decisions for you! Good luck, you'll be fine!

School's out! Graduating from high school means freedom from rules and regulations. No more school uniforms. No more school bells. From now on, you're on your own.

Some of you may be heading to other prefectures, or even overseas. New experiences await, new friends to be made, new things to be learned. It's perfectly natural to feel excited, and maybe a little bit scared about what lies ahead. But no matter how far you go, your experience in Fukiai will always be with you. The friends you made here, the memories of sitting through the many classes, the ups and downs of your 3 years in this school, they will always be a part of you.

So spread your wings and go where you can! Congratulations on finishing this part of your life, and I wish you good luck as you head out to the next part of your journey.

You may not know where you're going, but so long as you spread your wings the winds will carry you.

"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different"

From other teachers, I've heard good things about this year's graduating students. You have given presentations, participated in contests, learned about many topics - in more than one language, even - and made one more year of progress towards becoming adults. You've managed all of this as individuals. Congratulations! Here's hoping to hear more good things as you become university students, leaders, scientists, teachers, astronauts, parents, senators, company presidents, and whatever else you want to be. You have the abilities, and now that you've been at Fukiai, you have learned how to learn. So keep learning, keep growing, keep doing things, and keep making us proud of the wonderful, irreplaceable individuals you have become!

Congratulations!

For many of you, there'll be a mix of emotions - the sadness of saying goodbyes, the pride of graduating, and the excitement of anticipating what's to come. As this moment passes, you'll step out and find the whole world lying ahead of you. Let me share a quote with you:

"Life is about the journey, not the destination."

On the roads ahead, you'll discover opportunities, run into obstacles, make friends, find love and learn to deal with loss. But as long as you keep walking with a smile on your face, things will be alright. So go, and live a happy life!
